About Simone

Simone Parker explores themes of pop culture, feminism, queerness, girlhood, and coming of age through her poetry and collage art.

Simone's work is inspired by the pop culture media ecosystem she exists within, from Fall Out Boy to Grey's Anatomy, Twilight to Barbie. Her work is in conversation with shitposting, doomscrolling, and other maladaptive internet behavior.

Simone's poems have been published or are forthcoming in wildscape., the winnow, Ghost Girls Zine, The Talking Stick, and bitter melon review. Her collage art has been featured in North Star Collage. She has showcased her poetry at Brooklyn Poets and The Poetry Foundation and exhibited her collage work at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts.

Simone is a member of indie comic & zine collective Strange Deer Press, through which she enjoys making zines with her very talented friends & colleagues. Works made in collaboration with Strange Deer Press include her zines "Open Hydrant, Rolled Down Windows", "Ego Watches You've Got Mail Again", and "A Star is a Very Good Neighbor", which was written by Simone and illustrated by fellow SDP member Jaime Dear.

As a queer Jewish woman, Simone is a feminist, leftist, and anti-Zionist. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband, her cat, and at least 82 house plants. When not creating art, she pretends to work in marketing.
